About Us
The Capital City Courier is one of the fastest-growing African-American newspapers in the country. It started as a dream of entrepreneur Michael Pittman’s in 2006 as a vehicle to deliver the “news, views, and the other side of the story” to African-Americans from all walks of life. Specializing in hard-hitting, thought-provoking issues that affect the Black community, the Capital City Courier has watched its readership grow from a local newspaper in Springfield, Illinois to one that is read in over thirty countries around the world. Never backing down from a story, the dedicated and talented staff tackles articles and ideas that are at times controversial but always important to their Black as well as non-Black readership. In January, 2007, the Capital City Courier was featured in Editor and Publisher Magazine, the oldest and largest trade magazine for the newspaper industry. Against stiff competition from African-American newspapers around the country, the CCC was selected on the basis of its powerful stories. With such provocative titles as “Where’s Daddy? Have Black Men Deserted Black Children?” “Light-Skin Blacks vs. Dark-Skin Blacks,” “Can Black Women Raise Black Boys to Be Black Men?” “Why Can’t Blacks Hold On To a Dollar?” “Are the Scales of Justice Tipped Against Blacks” “Why Are Most Blacks Always Late? (C.P. Time),” ”Why Can’t Blacks Work Together?” and more, the popular monthly newspaper is getting a lot of attention, in both the national as well as the international markets. Always evolving, the Capital City Courier plans to keep its readers thrilled with more intriguing articles in upcoming issues…so stay tuned!
